Worried about the cost of living?

There is a lot of negativity on the news about the cost of electricity and gas and food prices. Some people need to choose between heating and eating. So here are 3 useful bits of information, which I heard on Radio 4 programme “You and Yours” that may help;

  1. On the BBC website, go to Cost of Living and when you put in the money you spend, you will get tips on where to go to save money.
  2. The British Gas Energy Trust, gives individuals between £250 and £1000 if they are suffering with fuel poverty. The average grant is £800 and you do not need to be a British Gas customer to apply. They have a website, and when you apply, they will talk about your individual circumstances and offer you a grant which you should receive by Christmas.
  3. If you are struggling to pay your heating or lighting bills, you can put your name onto the Priority Services Register. All the utility companies have access to the register and if your name is on it, they need to make sure you are on the cheapest tariffs and need to agree an individual payment plan with you.

Spectrum Enterprises CIC is closing on 31 March 2023.
